Shahr e Rey Podcats:
King Darius says: After that, I sent Rey's Persian army to Vishtasep..."
The recited paragraph, which is taken from the text of the Achaemenid inscription of Bisotun, tells the ancient history of the land which we will discuss here.
According to the ancient book of Avesta, Rey is the 13th city built in the world. Although Ray was always considered as one of the important cities of ancient Iran, it was never the capital of ancient Iran, however, ancient books have spoken a lot about this wonderful city.
Ferdowsi says:
From that day the victorious king sat on the throne
Whoever designed the city plan, asks to name it
The speaker, the king said it's Ray, resting place of auspicious kings
This ancient city with a history of three thousand years, is today located in the heart of the province of Tehran and on its lap are an ancient fire temple, ancient hills and ancient forts, which we will present here four famous buildings in this ancient land.
Cheshma Ali is one of the old scenic and tourist spots in Ray city, located in the 20th district of Tehran Municipality. This source is located in the district of Ibn Babouyeh, the Toghral tower, the Rashkan fortress and under the dam of the city of Ray.
Then it flows southeast. The ancient name of this source was Surin, because in ancient times it was next to the temple of Anahita. Its current name is also taken from the name of the first Shia Imam.
The history of Cheshma Ali dates back around 8000 years, when the first inhabitants gathered near the permanent source on top of the hills.
Toghral Tower is located to the east of Ebn Babouyeh's Tomb in Ebn Babouyeh Street of Ray City and is one of the surviving structures from the Seljuk period. In some texts, this place is called Burj Khalifa Yazid. The height of the tower is about 20 meters, and according to some experts, this tower is like the hands of a clock, and you can read the time from the sunlight on the teeth of the tower.
There are many challenges and differences between experts and historians regarding the personality resting in this building. Some consider it to be the tomb of Seljuk Tughrel Beyk, as it is stated in Majamal Tavarikh that "Sultan Tughrel Bey died in the city of Ray and his grave is there".
Rashkan Fortress is located near Safia Shahr Ray district and Cheshme Ali hill, and it was considered to be one of the fortresses that protected Ray's heart.
This fort, with a structure made of rubble stone and mortar, belongs to the Parthian period. In the past, this fort was called Fakhrabad, attributed to Fakhr al-Doleh, the son of Rukn al-Doleh Deilmi, until archaeological investigations resumed the time of its construction at an earlier date.
The name of the magnificent fortress "Rashkan" is derived from the word "reshak" which is a variant of Arshak, the name of the founder of the ruling Parthian (Parthian) dynasty, and many ancient war tools were obtained from this place in archaeological excavations and excavations, which are now kept in the Museum of Ancient Iran.
